     Linkedin is a professional social networking site.  It's used to show off your skills and for recruiters to be able to find you easily.  You can land contracts and meet other professionals in your industry.  You can also, reach out to people in your field for joint businesses ventures or ask them to do things such as being a guest for your podcast.  To get the most out of Linkedin, I recommend having professional photos made of yourself along with getting an amazing profile summary written about yourself.  Also, reach out to other people in your field and try to connect.  If you want to go crazy, you can also join groups that you do endorsement trading.  You can list things that you are good at on your Linkedin page, and once you join these endorsement trading groups they will endorse you.  I also recommend getting some reviews up on your profile! 

     I have used Skype many times.  I've been in certain locations in the world that were just too expensive to call the landline, and sometimes we wouldn't have internet.  I would get a "Skype-In" number which was basically just a local number that my family could call me on that would be routed my mobile phone.  If you have access to the internet then you can just log in to Skype and do video chatting or have a normal call for free.  A disadvantage to using VOIP would be that if your internet connection is slow, you'll get bad reception and won't be able to hear what you are saying to each other.  

     I use instant messaging daily.  Depending on who I'm speaking to and what we are speaking about, will decide on which IM platform I'm speaking on.  The first platform that I think everyone uses is Facebook Messenger.  I ONLY use this messenger if I'm reaching out to someone for the first time to get a better way of speaking.  I don't like it and it's not secure.  As soon as I usually get in contact with them, I get them to download one of two programs.  The best two IM software for me are Wickr Me and Signal Private Messenger.  Both can be downloaded on PC or mobile and both are encrypted.  

  

Podcast

Hey class,

For this weeks assignment, I had to do something a bit differently.  I went to both podcastalley.com and podcast.com.  However, Podcastalley.com seemed to be extremely outdated, and I couldn't quickly locate any auidible podcasts either.  Podcast.com was offline and for sale.  So, I did the next best thing.  I found some podcasts that i'm either familiar with or that seemed interesting.  Probably one of my favorite books of all time is called "4 hour work week" by Timothy Ferris.  I went to his blog and found his podcast and in which included it on my blog as well.  If you are in business and enjoy listening to podcasts, then I'm sure you know about Tim's podcast due to it being ranked number one on iTunes for some years now.  Tims' podcast includes many different things.  He teaches you about not only business but also staying in shape and healthy and sex.  He travels the world and meets with many other famous people to discuss all things related to business.  I'm personally not a fan of podcasts, but if I was, this is the one I'd be listening to.

Another podcast that I have personally listened to in the past is from Smartpassiveincome.com.  Pat Flynn is an online business owner that creates passive income businesses to show his customer base how they too can make money.  He does affiliate marketing, and I know he also sets up small info businesses such as creating guides how to start a food truck business.  He also has a few courses, so again, if you are interested in learning about business from building your brand to monetizing your efforts then I suggest checking out his podcast.

The last podcast that I have included is called Podrunner.  I found Podrunner by going to iTunes most popular blogs and searching within the fitness category.  This podcast is pretty cool because he gives you music that you can listen to while in the gym or any cardio activity to keep you upbeat and ready.  I won't get into details too much, but I was in a specific location, and for whatever reason, the locals thought it was a good idea to listen to reggae, and classical music while in the gym.  Talk about going nuts!

Along with including my podcast in this blog, I've also attached a link that you can find below that is a visual representation of me giving the podcast.  Please don't mind the fireman uniform or the pumpkins in the back.  Also, when trying to use the site I noticed you can only upload 60 seconds worth of audio.  Another side note, for some reason I couldn't record my audio thru the site, so I had to use a text to type method.  Either way, I hope you find it as funny as I did.  We couldn't upload the video to the blog without paying, so I'm attaching a link instead.

Shift Happens

     I assume I'm supposed to talk about 3 of the discussions listed on shifthappens.wikispaces.com.  The first discussion is about K-12 grade online schooling.  I like the idea, but I see a few problems.  The first issue is the time for the parents.  Unless one of the parents isn't working, or they have money to hire a tutor, I can't see having time to teach kids from home.  The second main problem I see is the social interaction the kids are missing from the school atmosphere.  I think by allowing the kids to stay home and do their school, it'll be harder for them later on in life when they start to work.

     As I'm reading these other discussions, I'm finding them highly irrelevant.  Such as Sesame Street laying off its employees.  How can I possibly summarize this?  I guess it was big news back in 2009.

     I also read a discussion talking about the video being trivial propaganda.  I agree with what the author is saying.  I don't think Americans should be worrying about any country overtaking our global dominance.  I agree that our educational system is no good.  I don't agree that we should teach more broadly.  I think kids should learn more things that have real-life relevancy.  I think they should be learning things like how to manage their money first of all.  Other things include time management, negotiation skills, survival skills, how to manage your mental issues, and probably better classes on preparing the students how to interview for a job.  This is a little personal, but my brother went into an interview where my mother was the boss.  She said she's never been more embarrassed in her life.
